March 28, 2008 11:04 p.m. EST Matt Aug - AHN Sports Reporter Nashville, TN (AHN) - Tennessee Titans offensive lineman Benji Olson announced his retirement on Friday after 10 years in the NFL. Olson, one of the last remaining players from the Titans Super Bowl team in 2000, can consider his playing career a success after performing well for a decade despite suffering from chronic back problems. His decision was probably made a bit easier, however, when he missed last season's playoff game vs. the San Diego Chargers due to lingering injury woes. "It's definitely a hard decision to step down and let go, but there are so many great friendships and so many great memories I've made over the years," Olson told the Tennessean. "It's been real fun, a great ride." Olson certainly has the respect of his coaches, including offensive line coach Mike Munchak. "In 25 years as a coach and player, Benji is one of the best pros I've ever been around," Munchak said. "No alibis, no excuses." Olson's departure from the team leaves a gaping hole at the guard position for the Titans, as Jacob Bell signed with the Rams in the offseason.
